Add New
Before people can post to your forums, you have to start with the basics. First
off is going to be creating at least one category to put forums in. You can
make as many categories as you want, and can even assign catagories to be inside
of another category, if you want. It's left up to you to decide how to lay out
your message board, but this is where you'll start (figure
a), likely after you've made all your setting adjustments.

Category Title
Category Title - Type in the name you wish your
category to have.
Base Mask
Member Groups - This allows you to decide which member groups will be able to view, post, and reply in the forums that you put within this catagory. For example, if you want anyone to be able to see the catagory, you would choose all member groups. If you want only specific people to view this category, then you would highlight only those whom you want to be able to see that particular category.
Display Settings
Turn this category - Choose on or off. On means
that it is active, or able to be used, off will prevent anyone from being able
to view or post in it.
Optional: Add Catagory Image (Can be used for Category sponsor, etc)
Image: (add full URL of image, like: http://www.domain.com/image.gif) - This is to have an image showing up in the catagory title row. You must enter the full url to link the image into the board from it's location.
Website URL: (add full site, like: http://www.domain.com) - This is the url you wish the image that you choose for the catagory (if one is selected) will be linked to. Remember to put the full url of the website, including the http:// part.
Make this a sub category?
Make a sub category of: - If you wish your category to be "nested", then this is where you choose which other category to make it a subcategory of. It will list all currently existing categories that you have created to allow you to choose which you wish it to be a subcategory of.
Description of sub-category - If you choose to make the category a subcategory, then you are allowed to write a description of the subcategory here. If this is not a subcategory of another, then no description is necessary.
Remove Category
If you decide that you need to remove a category, that function is performed
here. Simply mark the radio button next to the category you wish to remove and
click on the remove selected category button (figure
a). If you have forums located inside this category, it will give
you the option of choosing where you would like them moved to. If you do not
wish to put the forums in that category elsewhere, you will need to remove them
prior to deleting the category out.

Edit Category
Well, at some point or another, you might need to change a category name, add
or remove an image, change a link, adjust who can and cannot view it, etc.,
so this is where those changes are made. First you will select the category
that you wish to edit (figure a).

|
Once you've selected the category you wish to edit, then you will pull up a screen that gives you items very similar to those that are present when first creating a category. YOu may adjust the name, the member groups able to read/post/reply in that category, turn the forum on or off, as well as adjust the image and link if you had chosen one for that particular category (figure b).

Re-Order Categories
After some time, you'll likely make more categories and forums. So what happens
when you want to re-arrange them? You come here. All your categories will be
listed with a drop down showing a number. You simply click on the down arrow,
then highlight the number you wish that particular category to be (figure
a). After you've adjusted the numbers of your categories, then you
will be able to hit "Reorder the categories" and it will correct their
position to reflect the changes you've made.
